Five Guys A Week, which was originally produced by Fremantle’s Label1 for Channel 4 in the UK, is a dating series that sees one lady looking for love inviting five men she has selected to move into her home. As they all live together, the guys will also meet her family and friends who will weigh in along the way on who should be the last man standing. As the week goes by, she eliminates them one by one, until she finds the one.
5 Guys A Week brought on new challenges in order to create compelling television. Unlike a lot of shows, 5 Guys is not shot on a sound stage but rather in a natural environment…the leading ladies house. In order to capture the maximum amount of real life interactions between the lady lady and her gentlemen, we had to completely rethink the technical set up. Each home is fitted with 20 PTZ’s that are wirelessly transmitted to a double decker production trailer. The footage is automatically ingested and transcoded into AVID so they can edit on the fly. At any time the showrunner and his team are watching 20 live feeds to ensure not a moment is missed.
